2019 Nordica Enforcer 110 Skis

The Nordica Enforcer 110 was introduced for the 2018 season and has already earned itself a spot among the most popular freeride skis on the market. It shares a similar design concept to the Enforcer 100, although is tweaked for more soft snow performance. It is, obviously, wider than the 100 at 110 mm underfoot. It also uses quite a bit more tail rocker, and could, in theory, be described as a twin tip. There are two sheets of metal and carbon, just like all Enforcer skis, but Nordica integrates balsa into the core of the ski to lighten it up a little bit and soften the flex. In soft snow the Enforcer 110 is an absolute beast, and it actually has a somewhat surprising level of performance on firm snow considering its width.

Bob St.Pierre tested the 191 cm Enforcer 110, which happens to be the longest length. Bob described it as “extraordinarily fun in the soft snow,” which is definitely the focus of the Enforcer 110. The only scores not in the 4 or 5 range from Bob were for torsional stiffness/edge hold and versatility, both earning 3 out of 5. We can understand that. The increased tail rocker doesn’t hold an edge as well as the shape of the narrower Enforcers. It’s also less versatile than those narrower skis. While it does handle firm snow relatively well, the performance is definitely geared toward soft snow. Bob found that it “leaves huge trenches with appropriate feedback,” and that it “doesn’t mind being held back for slower, shorter turns,” which he considered a plus while seeming somewhat surprised considering how well it does at high speeds.

Mike Aidala tested the 177 cm and thought it was a bit more versatile than Bob, commenting that “the Enforcer 110 charges any and all conditions with stability and confidence.” That’s true; it can definitely handle aggressive skiing on any type of snow conditions. It might not be the most responsive, quickest, or the most appropriate for firm snow, but it can certainly handle it. “The power provided from these skis makes you feel like a super hero.” We like that, but are we talking Superman or Deadpool here?

Jeff Neagle spent quite a bit of time on the Enforcer 110 this season in addition to getting on it during our test. He has skied both the 185 and 191 cm lengths and he “loved the Enforcer 110.” All 4s and 5s from Jeff, with quickness, forgiveness, and versatility being the only categories getting a 4. Jeff’s response to the Enforcer 110 was that it “combines a shape I love with the performance of metal, but it doesn’t feel too stiff or too demanding if you get the right length. Long lengths can kick your butt a bit in tight terrain, so don’t go too long if you’re planning on skiing a lot of trees.”

Marcus Shakun called it a “stable crud killer.” Just like Jeff, all of Marcus’ scores were in the 4 to 5 range, with quickness and forgiveness being the lowest scores. “Solid platform holds great on firm snow and blasts through soft snow. Super playful tip and tail, you can load them up and get great rebound and energy. Damp shovel allows it to blast through bumps.” That’s a really solid description of the Enforcer 110’s performance from Marcus. It has a great blend of power, stability, and playfulness. Marcus thought it would be best for “advanced to expert skiers,” and added that it’s “at its best when the skier is playful or a bit more aggressive.”

The Enforcer 110 takes that proven, popular Enforcer performance and repackages it in a wider shape that’s more geared towards soft snow. A powder ski for some, an all mountain ski for others; the Enforcer 110 is an absolute blast in soft snow. We wouldn’t be surprised to see a skier out west use this as their daily driver, while it’s best for most eastern skiers as more of a powder-specific ski.
